The Upside of Quitting (from Freakonomics)

Have you ever heard a conversation or radio broadcast or television interview and thought “That’s exactly what I was thinking!!”?

Well a few years ago, I had that very thought while listening to an episode of the podcast Freakonomics. The episode was called ‘The Upside of Quitting,’ and it illustrated the benefits of quitting using economics terminology. I had long thought about the benefits of quitting, as I have been a quitting enthusiast and practitioner all my life. However, I had never heard about “sunk costs” or “opportunity costs.” I was so excited to hear these concepts being discussed, so much so that when it came time for me to give a speech at my law school graduation, I chose to give it on quitting, and I even illustrated some of the economics concepts from the podcast.

Here’s the episode in all it’s glory – hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
